Acknowledgement of Country

Glenelg Film Festival acknowledges the traditional Country of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains and pays respect to Elders past and present.

We recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship with the land.

We acknowledge that they are of continuing importance to the Kaurna people living today.

And we also extend that respect to other Aboriginal Language Groups and other First Nations.

As traders on Jetty Road, and film makers, we are passionate about our industry, and love where we work.

Our mission is to provide a platform for independent and grass roots film-making as well as a special focus on inclusivity ensuring a greater voice of diversity from various minority communities and the disability sector.

That, and the fact that Glenelg is the "Jewel in the Crown" when it comes to South Australian tourism.

What better place to show the world!

WHY are we doing this?

WHAT do we want from you?

It would be great to start with your support and belief. So far, the reception we have received has been nothing short of overwhelmingly supportive and we are most grateful.

We will be looking for sponsors and supporters and collaborators and volunteers, so please keep an eye out for news and consider what this could mean for you.

Please feel free to contact us on how you would like to be involved on our details listed, we would love to hear from you!

The festival will run throughout the year with monthly screenings, at Event Cinemas Glenelg, generating end of year entries to the annual FESTIVAL EVENT. The MONTHLY SCREENINGS began in MAY 2023 and the ANNUAL EVENT is scheduled for MARCH 2024.

MONTHLY SCREENINGS will comprise ten short films each month drawn from the filmmaking community. Filmmakers will be asked to submit short films (duration no more than 30 minutes) that have been filmed and/or produced in the last 24 months.

Submissions will be open throughout the year and each month ten films will be "Officially Selected" for screening. At the end of each screening session, one film will be selected by the audience as "Best Film of the Month (Audience Choice)" and a second will be selected by Judges. These two films will then be automatically entered into the Short Film Category of the ANNUAL FILM FESTIVAL.
